Photography

Images are the best way to capture a reader's attention and complement an article. I put in the effort to research, develop, edit, and practice my fundamental skills. From sporting events to protests to concerts, photojournalism adopts many forms. Not only have I worked in photojournalism, but I have also worked in portraiture. I have taken wedding, engagement, and senior graduation photo shoots.

East Hockey Championships

This image was taken moments after the puck hit the net and the siren sounded during the 2026 East Hockey Championship. Although I was devastated by another Husky loss, I had the practice and precision to capture this moment where UConn's gloves and sticks framed the goalie in disbelief while not blocking the puck. It's a contextual and artistic sport image.

Ariana Borromero, Green Line Records

With a time limit of 20 minutes, this photo challenged me to quickly identify the space and develop an environmental portrait concept. I was able to grow comfortable with the interviewee and create images that not only complimented the article, but her style and character.

David Calvo

Calvo was my first interviewee for my documentary, "Losing the Muse: The Quiet Collapse of Creativity in America." It was an amazing opportunity to explore and film in his workshop and witness him carve art. I wanted to emphasize his skill, art form and studio style in this environmental portrait.

Truman Dickerson

It initially felt awkward and intrusive to walk into The Daily Free Press' print night office space, but I was able to travel across the space to create a gallery to pair with the article. The goal of these images was to highlight the hard-working room and the power of a student journalism team in action.

Gov. Healey signs an Education-Transportation Surtax Bill

I am very proud of the composition, and the overall moment in time of this image was captured. What felt like a simple bill signing was elevated to a more important moment because of the photograph's framing. This image also appeared on the front page of El Mundo Boston's July 3, 2025 edition.

Northeastern Women's East Hockey Championship

Traveling to UConn stadium for the East Hockey Championship in a cramped bus only to lose in a final tie-breaker was heartbreaking. Many of my sports photos show athleticism and celebration, but this match taught me how powerful moments of silence can be for a story.

The Driver Era, "Obsession Tour"

The Driver Era tour brought me back into concert photography. In the crowded photo pit, I learned to think and move quickly to capture interesting musical moments. I enjoyed this concert not only for the photography, but the opportunity to network with others.

Northeastern University Pro-Palestinian Encampment

The News conducted intense three-day coverage of the Northeastern encampment. On the first day, I photographed for 12 hours to help with the ongoing breaking news. It was an incredible experience to learn ethics, protest photography, and work vigorously with a news team.

Trump attacked their universities. These students reported on it.; Adri Pray

Collaborating with reporter Zoe MacDiarmid, we traveled across the Massachusetts to capture environmental portraits of student journalists. This project was not only creatively challenging to photograph, but a chance to practice motion graphics editing.

Lt. Governor Driscoll visits the Benjamin Banneker STEAM Expo

Executing this event took time, patience, and quick thinking. The school not only had students who were on the no-photograph list, but also had varying lighting difficulties throughout the classrooms. I practiced using flash photography and quickly identifying spots to avoid students while capturing the Lt. Governor Driscoll's tour.

Boston Anti-ICE protest in solidarity with Los Angeles

While photographing this event, I felt the thrum of social justice throughout Boston. It was a chance for me to embrace the feeling and practice photographic framing.

Harvard International Students Protest

During the Harvard International Student Protest, the contrast of students actively graduating while participating in this protest was powerful. I am proud of this image because the intentional framing gives a lot of information: the organization's name, flag, etc. Next time, I would wait for a more expressive face and crop in the right to remove the small black corner.

Desiree Linden embraces a friend after completing the 129th Boston Marathon

A visual artist once told me that anyone could take a photo of someone at the finish line, and I agree. However, as seen in this image, it is the moments after that I felt like I thrived in capturing the human emotion after experiencing something so impactful.

Gov. Healey gives Mt. Holyoke Commencement Address

During the Mt. Holyoke commencement ceremony, I felt that the months of skills I learned at the State House had come to fruition. I was able to be patient for "the perfect moment," edited efficiently, and worked seamlessly with the Press Team to produce successful coverage.
